“Everyone has a voice here” – Celebrating International Nurses Day with Linda DaviesÂ
Meet Linda Davies, Head of Nursing at Practice Plus Group Ilford, and discover how we’re celebrating leadership, compassion, and inclusion this International Nurses Day 2025.
This International Nurses Day, we’re celebrating the incredible nurses leading the way in healthcare excellence at Practice Plus Group. As a proud employer of a diverse and talented workforce, Practice Plus Group recognises and supports nurses who are shaping the future of healthcare every day. Â
One of those inspiring leaders is Linda Davies, Head of Nursing and Clinical Services at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Ilford. With a career spanning 27 years in the NHS and  a decade at Practice Plus Group, Linda’s journey is a powerful example of leadership, compassion, and commitment to excellence. Â
Linda shares what she loves most about her life at Practice Plus Group:
A culture built on careÂ
Since joining the team at Ilford in 2014 after many years in the NHS, what I love the most is our culture. Every single person in our team knows that we are here for the patients and is genuinely working towards improving patient outcomes.
We have high standards, strong leadership, and a shared commitment to safety and dignity. That mindset, that shared understanding, is what sets us apart.
Championing inclusion Â
Our workforce reflects our community. Diversity is woven into our day-to-day. It’s not something we have to try hard to implement. From championing female Operating Department Practioners (ODPs) to a 79-year-old physiotherapist, everyone here is valued and everyone has something to contribute. Everyone has a voice.Â
Supporting international nursesÂ
In 2023, we faced a staffing challenge, but our recruitment team stepped up with a plan to bring in international nurses and it worked.
We interviewed high-calibre candidates via Zoom and helped them transition into life in the UK. We supported them with accommodation, financial guidance, and study resources for their OSCE exams.
Today, they are thriving, and they are a big part of our nursing team.
Leading with compassionÂ
One of the things that stands out most at Practice Plus Group is the commitment to compassionate leadership. Our hospital director and I make a point of walking the building every morning. It’s about being visible, approachable, and showing staff that we care.
Leadership is about people. Practice Plus Group has reinforced that through leadership training, which has only strengthened our culture of compassion.
I am proud of what we have built. A workplace where people feel valued. Where growth is supported. And where patient care always comes first.Â
