Celebrating Pride Month 2025 and one year of our LGBTQIA+ ERG with Chair Beccy Brown. Discover our progress, allyship, and future goals.
In celebration of Pride Month 2025, we caught up with Beccy Brown, Business Development Manager (Health in Justice) and Chair of our LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group (ERG), as the group celebrates one year since forming.Â
Beccy has always been passionate about LGBTQIA+ rights and inclusivity. She had won the Excellence Awards 2024 for the category Outstanding Contribution to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and also got nominated as the Top 10 Future Leaders at the British LGBT Awards 2025.
She says –
“I created the LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) in May 2024, with the aim of creating a safe space for our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and allies, and to increase visibility of our community. One year on, as we celebrate Pride Month, I am immensely proud of the work we have done as a group as we continue to grow in strength as a collective.
We now have over 30 members from across the organisation, meeting monthly to discuss key topics, agree on internal communications and share experiences. We plan to gain an accreditation for Practice Plus Group next year to cement our status as an inclusive LGBTQIA+ employer which is incredibly exciting and will keep us busy!
The ERG has established a number of communication channels aside from our monthly meetings, including a more informal Whatsapp group, various special interest groups and a Teams channel, and we are also in the process of setting up a new community space on our intranet platform, meaning that those that are unable to join scheduled meetings can still contribute and be involved.”
“The role of allies in the group is crucial. I am very passionate about ensuring the group remains open to all, with no membership requirements other than a desire to amplify the voice of the LGBTQIA+ community. My co-chair, Lucia Di Gaeta, Senior Recruitment Marketing Manager, exemplifies allyship by demonstrating empathy and being consistently open to all viewpoints whilst being aware of her own privilege. She is a shining example of what it means to be an ally and is an amazing support to me and the ERG as a whole.”
“Chairing an ERG can be challenging alongside my day job – it’s not always easy to balance workloads and give both roles my all, but I can honestly say it’s been the most rewarding experience of my life and I take great satisfaction in knowing we truly do make a difference, not only to individual members but also influencing change across Practice Plus Group.”
“I am honoured to be a part of the ERG, giving me he opportunity to support EDI initiatives within the organisation and provide allyship to our colleagues”
– Samantha Drury, National 111 Clinical Lead
Being part of LGBTQIA+ ERG feels like finding a space where I can be myself which is surrounded by people who support one another. It is a great network that advocates inclusion, diversity, and builds on meaningful relationships and values both within PPG and personally.
– Kerry Sennet, Social Prescribing Link Worker
It is heartening to be pat of a network that fosters a space to share, connect and create community
– Eli Caldwell, Healthcare Assistant
As we celebrate one year of the LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group and reflect on Pride Month 2025, we’re reminded that real progress happens when people come together to listen, lead, and lift each other up. What started as a safe space has grown into a powerful, visible community across Practice Plus Group. We are not just building an inclusive workplace but we are shaping a culture where everyone is empowered to show up fully, lead boldly, and be proud of who they are. Here’s to continuing the journey.
