Help reduce pain and improve mobility. It will benefit a wide range of patients, from professional sports people who wish to return to competitions, to older patients who aim to get back to walking and having good, pain-free mobility.
Posterior approach, with repair of the hip tissues, i.e. the capsule and the muscles, as recommended by the British Hip Society. This approach is very safe and it delivers the fewest complications, and allows for fast recovery for the patient.
We aim to carry out your surgery as soon as possible after you have been consented. This is normally around 4 weeks after your initial consultation. We’re really proud to have one of the shortest waiting times for hip surgery in the country.
It’s best to stay active, this has been proven to give you a better recovery time. Some people will require pain relief to allow them to stay active.
Surgeons will prepare for your surgery the night before, creating a personalised template for your hip, and the team will prepare the implants. Your actual surgery will take around two hours, after which you will go to recovery.
Whilst you are in recovery, you will be given pain relief to make you comfortable. You will then be taken to the ward and you will be seen by the Physiotherapy team, who will get you walking around. An x-ray will be taken of your implant to ensure correct placement.
Most people are able to drive six weeks after surgery. You should always check with your surgeon first.
For the majority of patients, their new hip will last 15 years or more.
We make the surgery as safe as possible for our patients. However, any surgery does carry some risk. Possible complications for hip surgery are clots in the leg, but we try to avoid this by encouraging our patients to move around as quickly as possible after surgery, and by giving blood thinning medication. Other possible complications include infection, damage to nerves and muscles, dislocation of the implant, and limb length discrepancy. By following the correct surgical technique and meticulous planning and attention to detail, we aim to avoid these complications.
One of our dedicated team of world-class orthopaedic surgeons at Practice Plus Group will treat you; from consultation to surgery, you’ll be in safe hands with us.

‘Saved £6,500’
“Absolutely brilliant! If like me you’re in need of surgery but on a long NHS waiting list and considering going private, they are definitely worth getting a quote from. We have saved £6,500 by going to them and not another private hospital”.
