About the speaker

Mr Nawar Abdulsattar,
Lead orthopaedic surgeon, Practice Plus Group Hospital Emersons Green & Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre Devizes
Mr Nawar Abdulsattar is a distinguished consultant orthopaedic surgeon with over two decades of experience in hip and knee arthroplasty and sports injuries of the lower limb. He earned his MBChB from Al-Mustansirya University in Baghdad in 2003. Subsequently, he relocated to Sweden, where he passed the medical exam at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and pursued comprehensive training, becoming a Swedish-Board certified specialist in trauma and orthopaedics.
During his training, Mr Abdulsattar conducted research on developmental hip dysplasia and enrolled in PhD studies at Gothenburg University, focusing on the epidemiology, treatment methods, and outcomes of ankle fractures.
His professional journey includes a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Stockholm Orthopaedic Center, after which he was appointed as a consultant surgeon at Aleris hospitals in Stockholm. In 2020, he moved to the UK and joined Practice Plus Group, where he practices at Emersons Green, in Bristol, and Barlborough, in Chesterfield. He remains a visiting surgeon in Sweden.
As a high-volume surgeon, Mr Abdulsattar has performed over 1,500 joint replacements, specialising in hip and knee replacement surgeries, and knee arthroscopy. He is a member of the Swedish Orthopaedic Association.
A word from Mr Nawar Abdulsattar:
“I am an orthopaedic surgeon with interest in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of osteoarthritis and sport injuries as well as trauma of the lower limb. I perform arthroplasty of the knee and hip, arthroscopic procedures of the knee and different types of surgical fracture treatment and fixations mainly, but not exclusively, in the lower limb. I’m part of an ongoing research study of ankle fractures in the Swedish population.”
