Iftab Akram

Iftab Akram is a highly experienced Clinical Optometrist with over 20 years of expertise across primary, community, and secondary care settings. Currently serving as Joint Lead Optometrist at Practice Plus Group, Iftab brings advanced qualifications and broad knowledge in glaucoma, medical retina, cataract services, and laser procedures. His diverse clinical experience spans various roles and settings, where he has contributed extensively to service innovation, clinical governance, and professional development. 

Yit Chiun Yang

Professor Yit Yang is a consultant ophthalmologist and retinal specialist at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary. In addition to providing tertiary level retinal service, he also provides high volume cataract surgery for high and low complexity cases. He has provided cataract surgery training for regional trainees for over 20 years and has achieved ‘Trainer of the Year’ award several times. He has been involved as PI on over 50 clinical trials and has published over a hundred and thirty peer reviewed papers. He has also collaborated with several universities on basic science research and has been a visiting professor at Aston University since 2008.

Marco La Malfa

Dr La Malfa’s special interest is in anaesthesia for day surgery and loco-regional anaesthesia. Over five years at the Kidderminster NHS Treatment Centre, Dr La Malfa carried out more than 6,000 anaesthetic procedures within orthopaedics, including minor and major procedures. In 2015, Dr La Malfa joined Practice Plus Group as Clinical Director of Anaesthetics and in 2016 became the Medical Director at the Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough.
