About the speakers

Professor Yit Yang is a consultant ophthalmologist and retinal specialist at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary. In addition to providing tertiary level retinal service, he provides high volume cataract surgery for high and low complexity cases. He has provided cataract surgery training for regional trainees for over 20 years and has achieved ‘Trainer of the Year’ award several times. He has been involved as PI on over 50 clinical trials and has published over a hundred and thirty peer reviewed papers. He has also collaborated with several universities on basic science research and has been a visiting professor at Aston University since 2008.
About the speakers

Iftab Akram is a highly experienced clinical optometrist with over 20 years of expertise across primary, community, and secondary care settings. Currently serving as joint lead optometrist at Practice Plus Group, Iftab brings advanced qualifications and broad knowledge in glaucoma, medical retina conditions, cataract services, and laser procedures. His diverse clinical experience spans various roles and settings, where he has contributed extensively to service innovation, clinical governance, and professional development.
