Gillingham surgical investment improves patient safety
9 December 2020
Investment in new flooring across the three operating theatres at Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre, Gillingham (previously Will Adams NHS Treatment Centre) has seen the centre made more COVID-19 secure for patients and staff.
The centre, in Beechings Way, has been a COVID-19 secure pathway for treatment, and operations manager Sam Buckler, from Rainham, wanted to ensure patient safety continued. She explained: “We have a track record, since the centre opened, of having no cases of patient acquired hospital infection and exceptional levels of hygiene.
“We supported the NHS throughout the pandemic. Now that the Department of Health has given us permission to once again start elective surgery, we wanted our patients to be confident that they can return to the centre for the medical treatment they need in safety.”
The three theatres cost £20,000 to refloor. The work took place over weekends and when theatres were not scheduled for use, in order to remove any impact on patient waiting times.
